Community Spirit: Craig County's Generosity During the Holiday Season

December 12, 2023

When you put the word out that you have people in need in your area, it's heartwarming to see the community show up with an outpouring of love and generosity. It's a beautiful testament to the spirit of humanity that shines brightly, especially during the holiday season. This is precisely what unfolded in our amazing Craig County community this Christmas season.

Thanks to the overwhelming support and generosity of our community members, almost 50 families will be able to celebrate this holiday season with joy and warmth. These families will not only be able to provide toys to their children, but they will also be able to enjoy a delicious holiday meal. This is a testament to the collective effort and the spirit of giving that is deeply embedded in our community.

One of the most notable contributions came from Tickle Oil & Propane Inc., who literally showed up with a U-Haul filled with food, including hams, turkeys, and so much more! Not only that, but they also dropped off some beautifully handmade toy chests for some very lucky kiddos. Their generous contribution was nothing short of a Christmas miracle for many families.

We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to Craig County Public Schools, Craig County DSS, United Way of Roanoke Valley, and Feeding SWVA for their generous donations of goods, and for the time it took to plan and organize such a large-scale donation and giving event. The impact of these organizations cannot be overstated; they were instrumental in making this initiative a resounding success.

Our own organization, CBEC, was also a proud sponsor and supporter of this effort. We happily collected donations from the community and got to play Santa, shopping for gifts for some very special children. We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute and to be part of this wonderful initiative.

Indeed, it's moments like these that truly capture the magic of the holidays. The sheer act of giving and receiving, the joy of bringing a smile to someone's face, and the warmth of community camaraderie – all these make for a true Christmas spirit. So, here's a big thank you to everyone who made this possible. Your generosity and kindness have made a significant difference in the lives of many, and for that, we are forever grateful.

So, to everyone who contributed, a heartfelt thank you. Your generosity and community spirit are what makes Craig County such a special place to live. You have truly embodied the Christmas spirit, and for that, we are eternally grateful. Here's to another year of love, generosity, and community spirit!
